I am super excited to be taking in the Oxford Conference on Corsetry this August, and to be learning from and meeting some very talented designers! That being said, I will be in England from August 21 to August 28 and would love to have some new clients to meet while I'm there! I am offering 15% off all custom work for new clients and can do fittings while in England! Please contact me for more details! Rachel

I drafted from the model's measurements using Foundations Revealed tutorial (I LOVE it!) then modified the pattern inserting the red curve cutout detail and peaked top edge. So I have coutil and lining full length pieces, and silk and cotton sheeting (as a interlining to eliminate the white silk being translucent) in the detailed pieces. I decided to do it that way so I didn't get a bunch of seams at the waist line. Assemble coutil and lining as usual, assemble "Top" and "Bottom" sections, join together with red curve piece. |

 | Inside of Corset During Construction This is my first attempt at cording a corset for a client. Each row of stitching must be perfect, and then the fun of pulling cord (in this case, hemp) through all those channels! |
Every seam I topstitched and then added internal bone casings so as not to detract too much from the cording detail. We felt like if there were external casings on this piece, it would not give the look the client wanted. I am very happy with it! | |
 | Structure Just a fun image during construction to show just how much support that cording will give... |

Well, the testosterone-driven part of my family is heading to Chilliwack today to compete in the Western Canadian Championships for go-karting Some pictures from last season... Checking the kart before the race Waiting for the weigh-in Racing They already have some Super- Fans! And I get to work uninterrupted! So, expect to see something new before the week is out! I need to clean the house (I devote 1 hour only, so don't be expecting anything fantastic) and then I am sewing. Getting ready for the first Ivy Rose home party/trunk show in Harris this weekend!

I am just heading out to Pekisko Galleryto display my latest design inspired by my favorite sister. Light, airy, easy to wear, with some girly ruffles and big bold flowers, the Freya top is rapidly becoming my go-to blouse in my wardrobe. Especially since the sun finally came out! Goodbye Winter, Hellooooooo Summer! I am excited to get a picture of this blouse on a person, it looks much better not on the mannequin... I have another version to show you too, but I guess it'll have to wait until Thursday night, as I left it at the store. |
